Rest and avoid anything that stimulates the brain is the best way to recover from a concussion. Eliminate or reduce television, movies, video games, computers, texting, reading and exercise. Any mental activity can make symptoms worse, so consider a brief absence from schoolwork. Do not drive because a concussion can reduce reaction times and lead to an accident. The more aggressively the brain is rested, the sooner healing will occur. Access the education guides at Kansasconcussion.org for more detailed information.
