Sponsor Spotlight - Leah d. Smith Agency
Family tradition, love of Shrine Bowl inspires Leah Smith to give back.

Over the years, the Kansas Shrine Bowl has grown from one of several summer all-star games to become the flagship event of the year. We are thankful for the work of everyone involved and for the support of the corporate partners who allow us to continue raising money (more than $3 million to date) to support Shriners Children's. And although the mission is a strong attraction for many, one of our corporate partners celebrates a personal connection to the Shrine Bowl that inspires her to bring real meaning to the phrase "Strong legs run so that weak legs may walk."
For the third straight year, the Leah D. Smith Agency is the presenting sponsor of the Fan Fest Experience, bringing a pre-game tailgate atmosphere to the Shrine Bowl. Fans can find the sizzle of a pregame meal and some welcome shade from the summer heat in Gorilla Village. That's not all, however, as the "Strong Man and Strong Woman Challenge" will help to bring life to the Shrine Bowl's mission.
"Both of my older brothers played in the Kansas Shrine Bowl, and I grew up in a strong Shriners' family," said Smith. "I've always looked to support organizations that help families and kids in need, and this event seemed like a great opportunity to enhance the connection between the game and the mission."
As part of the Farmers' Fun Fest on Saturday, two-person teams can compete in a three-part challenge with the best overall score for the challenge earning a fabulous prize! There are three adult divisions (men, women, coed) for the challenge, and all of the proceeds from the entry fee benefit the Kansas Shrine Bowl.
There will also be a STRONGKID obstacle course for the kids, with three age groups - 6-8 years old, 9-11 years old, 12-14 years old - and prizes given for the fastest time. Youngsters can enter as many times as they like, trying for the best time.
"When I was growing up, the Kansas Shrine Bowl and the Shrine Parade were a big part of my life, and the mission and the slogan really inspired me," said Smith. "This competition is a fun way to expand the idea of 'Strong Legs Run' beyond the field."
The Farmers Fun Fest kicks off at 3 p.m., and registration for the Strong Man/Strong Woman competition is available online (link) or in-person from 2:30-3:30 p.m.
